Toledo Botanical Gardens

This year in our homeschool, we’ve been studying plants in science class. I have been loving this subject, because it has given us lots of opportunities to get outside and enjoy God’s creation! A few weeks ago, we went on a field trip to the Toledo Botanical Gardens in Toledo, Ohio. I wanted to share with you some photos and a few things I loved about it (and a few I didn’t). A few other things I loved: Free admission AND free parking! Walkability: it was big enough to explore, but not so big that it would be exhausting for the kids to see it Read More

Ohio Day Trips: Tiffin Civil War Museum

We love field trips in our homeschool! We try to take one every week {though sometimes I fail and skip it} A few months ago, we were learning about the Civil War in history, and I was surprised to find that there was a Civil War Museum in Tiffin, Ohio, only about 30 minutes from where we live! Mazza Museum

We have been using How To Teach Art To Children, which is awesome. It goes through all the different components of artwork, as well as famous artwork and their media. We Read More

Mansfield, Ohio

We love doing Field Trip Fridays in our homeschool! I’m going to share with you about one of our recent trips – to Mansfield, Ohio! First stop: The Mansfield Fire Museum There were a lot of things I loved about this place. First of all, it was FREE. They even gave my kids some free fire hats as souvenirs! There were a lot of things to do and see: real fire trucks, equipment, photos, costumes, and more. There were a lot of don’t-touch displays, but some hands-on stuff for the kids as well. Click here for their website with address, hours, etc.   Stop 2: Read More
