Children’s Museum of Findlay ~ Expansion Tour & Giveaway!

Children's Museum of Findlay ~ Expansion Tour & Giveaway!! ~ from Our Cozy Den

We have been members of the Children’s Museum of Findlay since it opened in 2014. It has been an incredible place of learning and fun for my kids, and this isn’t the first time I’ve written about it. I was so excited when I heard last year about its upcoming expansion — and even more so when they agreed to give me an exclusive sneak peek and giveaway to share with you guys!!

The Lowdown on the Museum

So first, let me introduce the museum to you, in case you aren’t familiar. It’s located inside the Findlay Village Mall in Findlay, Ohio. (Go in the main front door, turn right, you’ll see it on the left!) Check out this post to see more about its original exhibits. The whole place is dedicated to pretend play, and fosters creativity and imaginative thinking! The museum is geared for kids 12 and under, though I do know some families with older kids who still enjoy it. I think that will depend on the personality of each individual child. Some of the new features of the expansion are definitely engaging for the older crowd!

Admission price to the museum has gone up 50¢ (the first ever price increase since its opening 3 years ago). Kids under 2 get in free. Kids 2 and up are $5. Adults get in for $7. But let me tell you — the family membership is totally worth the price. Your whole family can get in for an entire year for $80, and it comes with a bunch of other benefits as well! {Click here to read more about membership levels and benefits!} Another pro: even though the museum has doubled, the membership price is staying the same, as well as party room package prices!

The Expansion

I have to say a HUGE thank you to the museum for letting our family in early for a tour of the new exhibits, and for providing a Free Family Pass as a giveaway! My kids love the museum and they were super excited to check out the new space!

When you first walk in, you’ll be welcomed by the new interactive robot, Baxter, who does SO many cool tricks. My oldest son Connor loves STEM and robotics, so he is ecstatic about this new toy! Children's Museum of Findlay ~ Expansion Tour & Giveaway!! ~ from Our Cozy Den

Next, you’ll see a huge new theater stage, with fun costumes for dressing up! They had many costumes and sizes, so there is something for everyone. (You can see that Connor is really getting into the demonstrations! In front of the theater are some percussion instruments. Luckily, they weren’t very loud or annoying! They were just enough to be fun for the kids. Children's Museum of Findlay ~ Expansion Tour & Giveaway!! ~ from Our Cozy Den

The next display is a nature scene: complete with a tent, campfire, picnic table, and treehouse! Children's Museum of Findlay ~ Expansion Tour & Giveaway!! ~ from Our Cozy Den

The tent has cots and books. The campfire has sticks with removable “marshmallows”, with the table next to it for “eating”. It’s a great educational way for kids to learn about the different kinds of pipes underground! Here, my daughter Lia is doing a demonstration of the buttons:

Fun, huh???

If you go up on the platform by the house in the video, you’ll see what is sure to be a fan favorite: the pool!!

My kids loved the pool. I had to literally drag them out of it!

The next exhibit is something I overlooked at first. I thought it was just a sandbox. But then the employees showed me how it worked and it blew my mind. Check out this video to see it. This technology amazes me!!

In the middle of the room, you’ll see these blocks from the previous displays have been transplanted. I was informed that the new space on the other side will be home to a pretend classroom, so the kids can play “school”! {you can also see in this photo the door that connects the expansion to the original museum, right next to the recycling truck/fire station if you are familiar with the layout.}

Continuing back around the room, you’ll see a large tube structure. There are hard hats for the kids to don, and peepholes for them to look out!

It’s much larger than the previous party room, with a lot more seating and space for larger crowds! It can be rented for private parties, and it is also going to be used for educational programs (which are also usually free for members!) I was told that the space is free to use for groups wanting it for educational purposes (big score for homeschoolers and teachers!)

The party room prices are also unchanged, and you can see more details on that here.

When we left the museum, I asked my kids to share their favorite new exhibit! Here’s what they had to say:
