Weekly Menu: July 3rd – 9th

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of 6 on under $175 a month!

So I failed in two major ways this week.

  1. I didn’t write a menu. AGAIN.
  2. I didn’t make it to Walmart until today… Thursday. Usually I try to go on Saturday, or Monday at the latest. So Thursday is bad for me.

I don’t know what my deal has been this summer. I feel a little crazy with my husband gone for military training. If anything, that should make me want to be more efficient instead of decidedly less so. But I’m just trying to be honest and transparent with you guys. We have gotten McDonald’s and Little Caesar’s Hot’n’Ready pizzas a few times. Sometimes I make the kids eat sandwiches, sandwiches, sandwiches… {I can’t believe they’re not complaining yet about that one, but they just love sandwiches, and *I* love that they make their own so I don’t have to do anything.}

Anyway, so like I said, I don’t have a written menu for the week. We had meals at a friend’s house twice this week, so that’s twice I didn’t have to cook. So far this week I’ve also pieced together the following dinners: leftovers, omelettes, and homemade pizza. Omelettes and homemade pizza are some of my favorite I-don’t-have-a-plan dinners because I don’t have to have any meat thawed and I can make it on the spot.

What I spent this week:

Here is my receipt from Walmart this week:

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of SIX for less than $175/month!

What I got: 2 loaves of bread, blueberries, celery, kiwi (price-matched to the Aldi ad), tortilla chips, 2 canisters of oatmeal and 1 package of flavored oatmeal packets, hair gel, 2 cans of baking powder, pepperoni, almond milk, peanut butter, apples, and milk.

It was kind of a big shop for me, as I spent $44.37 (about twice my usual bill). But I’m okay with it, because I was getting a few stock-up items (like a huge jar of peanut butter, and a giant family sized bag of pepperoni).
