How many times do you see an awesome deal at a yard sale or on a clearance rack and you want to buy it… but then you think, “Wait. Do I already have jeans/sandals/pjs in this size???”
I had this issue ALL the time, until I started carrying around with me this handy list! It’s easy to keep in my purse and I can pull it out whenever I see a good deal to make sure the item(s) in question are something I really need!
Here’s how to use it:
• First, circle Girl or Boy at the top of the page, so you know what gender you’re looking at. Then fill in the sizes, starting with the current or next size up of the size your child is wearing. Figure out how many sizes ahead you want to shop (and store!) and X out the extra boxes.
• Next, go down the list and write down how many items of clothing you want for each category. Some people might need a lot of t-shirts and shorts if they live in a warm climate, and no winter gear. Maybe your kid is on the swim team so he needs multiple swimsuits. Maybe you homeschool so you don’t really need many outfits. For boys, go ahead and X out the rows that say “dresses” or “leggings”. Either way, fill out the “desired” column of the list.
• Now we’re going to go through the items you already have in your possession. I get out each bin, then make tally marks for each item. Once you finish, you can see how many you still need for each category.
I do nearly the same thing for shoes. I only need one pair in each category, so I just put a check mark √ if I have it, and leave it blank if I still need it.
• Now I’m all ready for snatching up some great deals, and I won’t end up with 37 t-shirts and no PJs ever again!
