June Bulk Shop & Menu Totals

I’m a little late on the menu post this week, but I did eventually get my shopping done!

I made two trips to the store this week: my usual weekly trip to Walmart and my regular monthly bulk shop at Gordon Food Service. I do most of my shopping at GFS, buying ingredients in bulk to save money (and increase our health by cooking from scratch!)

I did not write an actual menu this week like I usually do. There are several reasons for this:

  • my oldest kid is at camp and the ones left at home don’t eat much
  • we are going out to dinner for my dad’s birthday one night
  • a friend is bringing us dinner another night
  • the leftovers from those two meals will probably feed us on the other nights
  • my husband is coming home for the weekend (after 6 weeks away, yay!), and I don’t know what he will want, food-wise
  • and lastly, we’re on a school break, so I’m feeling lazy and unmotivated to plan

Even though I didn’t plan meals, I promise we are actually eating this week.

This is what I picked up at Walmart:

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of SIX for less than $175/month!

Two boxes of cereal, 1 loaf of french bread (discounted to 50¢, I use them to make easy pizza subs!), 1 loaf of bread, 5 dozen eggs, almond milk, and strawberry jelly.

Free from WIC this week: 1 gallon of milk, 2 bottles of juice, and 4 cans of beans.

Total spent: $16.07.

This is what I got from GFS:

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of SIX for less than $175/month!

25 pounds of brown sugar, 25 pounds of white sugar, 5 pounds of shredded cheddar cheese, 3 packages of 36 count colby jack cheese sticks, and 50 pounds of flour.

I used $1.46 worth of Go Points (earned from previous purchases) to save a little off my total, which made my total amount spent $72.47.

June Totals:

Here’s what I spent this month.

June 5th – 11th ~ $21.81

June 12th – 18th ~ $13.10

June 19th – 25th ~ $24.91

June 26th – July 2nd ~ $16.07

June Bulk Shop ~ $72.47

Total June grocery bill ~ $148.36

One-Year Roundup

Since this month marks ONE YEAR since I started blogging our weekly menus and receipts, I thought it would be fun to add up all of them for the past 12 months and see what I spent and what my average was.

My total grocery bill for the entire year ended up being $1,776.15. {Ironic that it’s 1776 and this weekend is the 4th of July!🇺🇸}

That makes my average grocery bill for the past 12 months $148.01 per month!!

I always tag my posts as “feeding a family of 6 for under $175/month”, because I recognize that I do get some items free from WIC, so I wanted to account for that as well.

Well, that’s it for today!

You can check out all of my past weekly menus on this page if you wanted to see more. Thanks for stopping by!

I get the biggest pack of corn tortillas that Walmart sells — it’s in the bread aisle, and it usually costs $3 for a huge stack.
