DIY Office Organizer

DIY Office Organizer ~ Our Cozy Den

I have 4 children, so that means there’s not an excess of storage in my house. {Let’s be honest, I’d kill for another bedroom… or two.} That means that, like many people, my “home office” is in my living room.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may have surmised that I’m a pretty organized person. I love my checklists & charts! But I don’t love having them hanging all over my living room. They just don’t look very pretty!

So I brainstormed for a while to come up with a way to have all of my info accessible, but out of sight!

Voila! Presenting my office organizer!

I put inspiring quotes, letters, and photos in mine — but you could also fill it with full-sized photographs if you wanted it to look even nicer.

When you open it up, it looks like this:

I recently cleaned it out actually, but you can see there is plenty of space to display calendars, to-do lists, password lists, phone number lists, charts, or any other information you want to keep handy. You can also use the outside as a dry erase board if you leave the frames empty (or fill them with cute empty boxes to organize your dry erase board notes).

I put it together with two poster-sized frames (get the light kind, with plastic frames and plastic fronts, no wood/glass), one large bulletin board, four hinges, some velcro dots, and a small piece of scrap wood for spacing. The dimensions for my bulletin board are 36″x24″ and my poster frames are each 25″x19″. You can make yours larger or smaller, based on how big you want your command center to be and the sizes of supplies you can find.

Here’s how to install it:

That’s it! It was really easy to put up once I figured out what I wanted to do. And now I have a big beautiful command center that is oh-so-functional!
