I just love shopping at Gordon Food Service for most of my family’s groceries! We get great deals on almost all of our staples: flour, sugar, rice, spices, eggs, cheese, sausage, and more!
This month’s bulk trip turned out to be almost completely cheese! It’s my favorite food, so I guess it makes sense that we go through quite a bit of it!
Here’s my receipt from my trip:
What I got, and how long I expect* it to last:
2 canisters of oatmeal (1 month)
3 huge 5-lb bags of cheese: 1 each mozzarella, cheddar, and mexican blend
(mozzarella – 4 months, cheddar – 3 months, mexican – 6 weeks)
2 packages of colby jack cheese snack sticks (2 months)
16 pounds of sausage links (6 months)
*my estimates are just that — estimates. Sometimes we go on a sausage binge and eat way more than usual. Other times we forget it’s in there and it lasts a long time. It really just depends on our whims sometimes!
I’ve gotten the question in the past — how do I get my cheese to last so long?
The answer is that I freeze it in quart size bags, and pull them out as needed. Shredded cheese freezes really well!
So that’s it for my April bulk shop at Gordon Food Service!
Let’s take a look at my April grocery totals, shall we?
