Weekly Menu: December 20th-26th

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of 6 on under $250 a month!

Christmas is here, Christmas is here! It’s my favorite week of the year! 🎄🎁💕💃

Let’s see what we are eating to celebrate this joyous holiday!

As usual, a few notes before we get started:

  • Breakfast is not included in the menu, because in our house it is fend-for-yourself. But it is included in my budget and shopping. We pretty much eat oatmeal & eggs every day, with the occasional variance.
  • I have written about my large once-a-month pantry shop. I try to plan most of my menu to use what we already have on hand in the pantry and freezer. Bulk buying = BIG savings!
  • Snacks are also not on the menu, but my kids do get a snack each afternoon around 4 pm. Their choices are veggies (usually carrots and celery from my garden), fruit (I always have on hand a selection of oranges, bananas, apples, pineapple, berries, etc.), hard-boiled eggs, cheddar cheese sticks, yogurt, and granola bars.

Sunday:

Lunch ~ lunch at our favorite Mexican place — they have 99¢ kids meals on Sundays, so our whole family can eat for under $20 (we can’t even get McDonald’s for that price!)

Dinner ~ leftovers

Monday:

Lunch ~ sandwiches (peanut butter with jelly or honey, or turkey and cheese) with fresh fruits and veggies

Dinner ~ ranch chicken strips with french fries and vegetables

Tuesday:

Lunch ~ vegetable soup with crackers and yogurt

Dinner ~ taco casserole

Wednesday:

Lunch ~ black bean quesadillas with fruit

Dinner ~ leftovers

Thursday:

Lunch ~ sandwiches (peanut butter with jelly or honey, or turkey and cheese) with fresh fruits and veggies

Dinner ~ Christmas Eve Dinner: ham, potatoes, vegetables, applesauce, rolls, & pie — most of this is already made in the freezer, I just have to pull it out.

Friday:

Breakfast ~ Birthday cake for Jesus — I’ll be posting the recipe later this week!

Christmas Day ~ feast at Grandma’s house

Saturday:

Lunch ~ leftovers

Dinner ~ leftovers
