Weekly Menu: December 6th-12th

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of 6 on under $250 a month!

This week was my birthday week! 🙌🎉💃🎁 At the suggestion of my doctor, I took a one-day hiatus from my SUPER STRICT PCOS diet, and I had a donut and a sandwich for the first time in a year!

But let’s look at this week’s menu!

Again, a few notes before we get started:

  • Breakfast is not included in the menu, because in our house it is fend-for-yourself. But it is included in my budget and shopping. We pretty much eat oatmeal & eggs every day, with the occasional variance.
  • I recently did a post about my large once-a-month pantry shop. I try to plan most of my menu to use what we already have on hand in the pantry and freezer. Bulk buying = BIG savings!
  • Snacks are also not on the menu, but my kids do get a snack each afternoon around 4 pm. Their choices are veggies (usually carrots and celery from my garden), fruit (I always have on hand a selection of oranges, bananas, apples, pineapple, berries, etc.), hard-boiled eggs, cheddar cheese sticks, yogurt, and granola bars.

Here’s what we are eating this week:

Sunday:

Lunch ~ leftovers

Dinner ~ leftovers

Monday:

Lunch ~ sandwiches (peanut butter with jelly or honey, or turkey and cheese) with fresh fruits and veggies

Dinner ~ going out for my birthday! I chose CHICK FIL-A!

Tuesday:

Lunch ~ sandwiches (peanut butter with jelly or honey, or turkey and cheese) with fresh fruits and veggies

Dinner ~ breakfast for dinner — pancakes, eggs, & sausage!

Wednesday:

Lunch ~ black bean quesadillas with fruit

Dinner ~ meatloaf, mashed potatoes, & green beans

Thursday:

Lunch ~ vegetable soup with crackers and yogurt

Dinner ~ date night! Kids are eating at the babysitters, and Byron and I are going to a fancy grown-up-only Christmas party!

Friday:

Lunch ~ eating at a Christmas party

Dinner ~ venison, rice, & steamed vegetables

Saturday:

Lunch ~ eating at another Christmas party

Dinner ~ leftovers

What I spent this week:

Here is my receipt from Walmart this week! I had to pick up some more expensive items (cheese and toilet paper), and I splurged on store bought yogurt instead of my DIY kind. {I was being lazy, don’t hate me for not being frugal all the time!}

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of 6 on under $250/month!

This is what I got: toilet paper, 2 bags of tortilla chips, 1 bag of cheese, yogurt, protein bars, chocolate pudding (impulse purchase because of the sweet 3 year old in my cart!), Q-tips, 2 tubs of icing (we’re making cookies this week for Advent!), ranch dressing, 2 loaves of bread.

I also got from WIC: 1 dozen eggs, bananas, raspberries, blueberries, and 2 gallons of milk.

Total spent today: $42.95.
