Weekly Menu: November 15th – 21st

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of 6 on under $250 a month!

Our homeschool year ended last Friday, so this week is my first week of total FREEDOM until January! I have so much fun stuff planned for our time off, which will be extra amazing since both Byron and I stay home. Also, I plan to start working out more! LOL

Let’s take a look at this week’s menu!

Again, a few notes before we get started:

  • Breakfast is not included in the menu, because in our house it is fend-for-yourself. But it is included in my budget and shopping. We pretty much eat oatmeal & eggs every day, with the occasional variance.
  • I recently did a post about my large once-a-month pantry shop. I try to plan most of my menu to use what we already have on hand in the pantry and freezer. Bulk buying = BIG savings!
  • Snacks are also not on the menu, but my kids do get a snack each afternoon around 4 pm. Their choices are veggies (usually carrots and celery from my garden), fruit (I always have on hand a selection of oranges, bananas, apples, pineapple, berries, etc.), hard-boiled eggs, cheddar cheese sticks, yogurt, and granola bars.

Here’s what we are eating this week:

Sunday:

Lunch ~ lunch at our favorite Mexican place — they have 99¢ kids meals on Sundays! ¡Y podemos practicar nuestra español también!

Dinner ~ leftovers

Monday:

Lunch ~ more leftovers (we had a lot from last week!)

Dinner ~ crockpot chicken taco soup

Tuesday:

Dinner ~ shells & hamburger, with vegetables

Wednesday:

What I spent this week:

Here is my receipt from Walmart this week:

Weekly Menus from Our Cozy Den ~ Feeding a family of 6 on under $250 a month!

What I got: salsa, sugar free chocolate chips (to make THIS), tator tots, milk, natural peanut butter, hair gel, diced jalapeños, and bananas.

I got free from WIC this week: 1 gallon of milk & 2 loaves of bread.

I also got a bunch of apples from a friend’s apple tree! I want to have fruit trees of my own someday, but for now we move FAR too often, being military and all. 🇺🇸

Total spent this week: $19.43.
