DIY Taco Seasoning

Making homemade taco seasoning is one of my favorite money-saving DIYs. Not only is it cheaper, it’s also WAY healthier and it tastes better too!

I mean, have you seen what’s in store-bought seasoning packets?…

What IS this stuff???

This recipe can also be part of a great frugal gift. Put several homemade mixes (like my brownie mix, pancake mix, cream soup mix, and others) into mason jars, put them in a gift basket, and you have a great cheap gift!

Here’s the recipe!

{If you want it in pretty layers for gift-giving, divide each ingredient into 1/3s and do it 3 times. If it’s just for you, dump it all in at once.}

  • 1/3 cup onion powder
  • 2½ Tbsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1½ Tbsp cumin
  • 1½ Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp oregano

Put them in a regular pint-sized mason jar & shake it up!

You can store some in an empty spice container if you want some for sprinkling (I like to put it on my scrambled eggs). Or just keep it in the mason jar and spoon out 2 Tbsp per pound of meat. {2 Tbsp = 1 store-bought package}

See? So easy and so good!
